      Hi,

SOA default dashboards are contains complete SOA monitoring and they are sufficient for monitoring SOA performance.

You can check https://medium.com/wlsdmforweblogic WLSDM Medium blog posts by WLSDM team and customer experiences.

You create new Devops MBean and new Dashbaord in WLSDM as below screnshots.

Also please check suggested blog posts:

      Hi,

You can change the JFR repository directory using the following JVM option:
WLSDM must delete those temp files which is older than two days (48 hours).

      -XX:FlightRecorderOptions=repository=WLSDM/temp/JFR ( see: https://wlsdm.com/docs/#VI.Installation )

If you choose not to define (or remove) this JVM option, by default the files will be stored under the operating system temporary directory.

      For more information see: https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/technotes/tools/unix/java.html
      repository.png

Also, jfr files are static profiling files, not library files. You can delete them safely even runtime.

For the second question: You can achieve that using the “Downtime” feature:

1 – Go to WLSDM console / “Monitoring & Diagnostics” page.

      schedule.png

2 – Open the page operations and click the “New Scheduled Job / Downtime”
      newschedule.png

3 – Configure the downtime and click save.

At this point, you have two action option:
1 – Stop all notifications but keep monitoring
      2 – Stop all monitoring

      action.png

      Hi,

Sometimes WebLogic blocks the direct access to the Java Native MBean Server from inside it for various reasons.
And that affects some modules functionality.

Please add the following startup argument to your managed server.

İf it does not solve the problem, please zip and send the “wlsdm.log” file to us for the detailed examination.
      ${DOMAIN_HOME}/WLSDM/logs/wlsdm.log

      Hi,

WLSDM log viewer line limit is 1000 but you can search any string and find searched string where line is located in whole log file via “text filter”.

There is another way to view log files via WLSDM file explorer. Go to “Operational Tools & Utils -> File Explorer” pick “.log” file then click view button (max 1 mb view size). Also you can download log file to your local environment via file explorer.

      Kind Regards…

      Hi,

The WLSDM and the WL-OPC have their own data-archive mechanism.

For the WLSDM, default data archive range is 90 days, and for the WL-OPC, default data archive range is 365 days.

You can find the settings below.

      Kind regards.

      Hi,

Non-adminstrator users not allowed for administrative operations by default as below screenshots.

      Metric configuration for monitor user:
      2..png

      Metric configuration for adminstrator user:

      3..png

      File explorer for monitor user:

      4..png

You can change access restriction configuration in “WLSDM System Settings > system.authorization” page.

Default value is OFF in “system.authorization.page.access.fileexplorer.allgroups” feature. It means only administrators can access to “file explorer”. If you turn on this feature, you must set access path for non-adminstrator users then non-adminstrator users only can access the path(s).

You can restrict log viewer access configuration via “system.authorization.page.access.logviewer”. Default value is on, it means all users can access log viewer, if you turn off this feature, non-adminstrator users will not able to access logviewer.

No; this property is usefull when OPC is down. You had better enable it. Disabling that property will NOT disable for all domains.

You can still configure notification settings on WLSDM part; like ON/OFF backend notifications… etc.

The configuration is still same; all the functionalities on WLSDM are still supported by OPC. If you have a specific case; then please let us know in detail to reproduce it.

      Hi,

Are you sure you have created HTTP transactions for the relevant managed server? Remember you need to create real traffic to exceed 8kb buffer size for the response times monitoring. So, at least there must be +100 request after managed server restart.

Are you sure you have selected the right managed server on the “Response Times” page? (Please take below screen capture as a reference)

      2..jpg

Go to “Configuration > Monitoring & Diagnostics > Response Times (tab)” page and check the status. Is there any server needs to be restarted?

      Hi,

Unfortunately, we are not supporting “bash 3.2” version. At least you have to use “bash 4.x version”. Adding compatible bash version as below.

      Here are our recommendations:

Our recommended OS is Linux. (centOS, Red Hat… etc.). You had better choose Linux servers. This information is already available in the help at the “prerequisite” section.

Upgrade your bash version to 4.1 at your current working Solaris server.

      Hi,

This script is endless; you should echo a result for capturing a variable in WLSDM.

You should use the ping command like i.e. “ping $servername –c 1” then extract output from the ping command.

We are recommending you to use the script which is available in WLSDM README for pinging database. Please follow the readme link here: http://www.wlsdm.com/docs/README#VI.ConsoleUsage&DevOpsMBean

      Also we are pasting below.

Step-1 Write Shell Script: Ping database and calculate database response time using WebLogic API (weblogic.jar)

      #Variables _dbStatus=0 #0:DB_DOWN,1:DB_UP #start DB Ping _startTime=$(($(date +%s%N)/1000000)) _pingResult=`java -cp weblogic.jar utils.dbping ORACLE_THIN $YOUR_USER_NAME $YOUR_PASSWORD $YOUR_IP:$YOUR_PORT/$YOUR_SERVICE_NAME` _endTime=$(($(date +%s%N)/1000000)) _dbResponseTime=`expr $_endTime - $_startTime` if [[ "$_pingResult" == *"Success!!!"* ]]; then _dbStatus=1 #echo "Database connection SUCCESS!!!" #DB_UP echo DatabaseStatus=$_dbStatus else _dbStatus=0 #echo "Database connection FAILURE!!!" #DB_DOWN echo DatabaseStatus=$_dbStatus fi echo DatabaseResponseTime=$_dbResponseTime```

      Hi,

“Thread Dump Analyzer” requires to full thread dump for analyzing.

Normally WLSDM gets a full thread dump. But if there is an exception, like in your case (connection timeout); by default, WLSDM tries to get it using WebLogic API. And sometimes WebLogic does not provide a full thread dump.

That’s why you didn’t get a full thread dump even your managed WebLogic server has a WLSDM agent.

      Thanks.

      Hi,

WLSDM doesn’t support the multiple log files for log monitoring.

The current algorithm based on, “one log file, one search string” rule.

So, currently, there is no easy way to do this.

But we are going to report your request for the next WLSDM version.

      Hi,

The right side of equal char which is attributeValue must be only numeric values.Probably your script contains string and you need to trim string chars.

Also the first “/” should be replaced, too. Here is sample blog for your reference. One of our community user; used below script for doing it.

      http://mathiassalgado.blogspot.com/2017/06/add-metric-options-to-devops-mbean-with-wlsdm-weblogic-console.html

      script→ df -H | grep -vE ‘^Filesystem|tmpfs|media’ | awk ‘{ print $6"="$5}’ | sed ‘s/%//’ | sed ‘2s///ROOT/’ | sed ‘s///_/g’

I recommend filter the result set; it does not make sense to use every result for “df –h” . i.e. you /etc, /dev, proc, system… Only consider the mount points which relevant with WebLogic JVM processes.

      Hi,

WLDF Query Language is not supporting in diagnostic log monitoring because diagnostic log monitoring is a special solution.

Firts of all, is strings connecting with “OR” or “AND” ?

If you are using“OR”, you must define two different search for two different defination.

If you are using “AND”, you can replace search string with exact defination.

You can search string as below.

      Diagnostic log row: [ACTIVE].ExecuteThread: ‘2’ for queue: ‘weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)’] [userId: ][APP: Service Bus Kernel] [partition-name: DOMAIN] [tenant-name: GLOBAL] [oracle.soa.tracking.InstanceId: 14216584] [oracle.soa.tracking.SCAEntityId: 10537] [oracle.soa.tracking.FaultId: 2252239] [FlowId: 0000Lu^vEciEoI04jz_Aio1PjgB80001jW] Outbound.B2BI/pipeline/vendor**/Unhandled error caught by system-level error handler: com.bea.wli.sb.pipeline.PipelineException: Service Unavailable**

      Hi,

Yo need to edit script according to your environment.

Add soap-request.xml to server and replace à -d@/Users/admineer/u01/scripts.imac/curl.ws/soap-request.xml

      Replace /Users/admineer/u01/scripts.imac/curl.ws/response.xml

Replace (Also add to server) “@/Users/admineer/u01/scripts.imac/curl.ws/curl-format.txt”

For testing below script the server must access the http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx URL. I am highly recommending test with an “inhouse” business Webservice. You need to reconfigure this according to your service.

Log Monitoring cycle default value is 120 seconds. You can configure it from “Configuration > WLSDM System Settings” page’s “system.monitoring” tab, property as below. It effects back-end, loginspector and response times frequency. No problem until 60 seconds but we suggest 120 seconds for high transaction traffic.
